Interior + Exterior/ Residence

A well-tailored house is a structure made to fit one’s personality, family requirements, lifestyle and more. A good house can weather the many seasons of life providing comfort, familiarity and love: and over time when little things start to occupy the corners within, it becomes a reflection of one’s taste. But can the exteriors, the walls, the structuring of the space also mirror one’s personality? Taking all these questions as a foundation of our design here, we wanted this space to celebrate the clients’ introverted nature. To compose this customization, we worked to place the entry lane towards the views of the hills, instead of the usual road facing entry.

The house has four bedrooms, hall and kitchen; the master bedroom has been provided with a walk-in closet, a toilet and a balcony. Each of the bedrooms look out to the beautiful mountains. Designed as per Vastu Shastra, one can enter the house from the northeast and walk into the kitchen and bedrooms located in the south west. A compact and ready-to-function office space has been placed at the entry of the house. The kitchen and dining space open up to a covered spill out. The house has been structured in a way to keep the living room in its centre of all activities. A split-roof above allows the house to receive ample natural lights. There is a minimalistic feel to the place, even in the use of materials. Quiet and serene in subtle whites, the only contrast is the wood on the ceiling and stairs.

An extra floor stands below the ground floor, that has been designed with the purpose of becoming a two-bedroom homestay unit someday. A 1000 square feet front court has been paved for outdoor recreation and activities. A idyllic space to carry out kitchen gardening and a garden gazebo work as the perfect accessories to the non-exhibitionist nature of the space that has been made to fit like the perfect glove.
