Cho-Lung-Trul-Sum at Lachung

The project proposal in Lachung envisions to establish a statue of Guru Padmasambhava, which in turn will enhance and strengthen the faith of Nyingma Buddhism in Sikkim. Over the last decade Sikkim has seen a steady growth of pilgrims and it is only beneficial to exploit that aspect and provide a pilgrimage destination for them. The project will also supplement the tourism of Lachung in the form of a leisure park and a sightseeing destination.

 

The project features a 137 feet statue of Lord Padmasambhava sitting atop a landscaped garden adorned with the local flora which includes exotic species of rhododendrons, orchids and alpine flowers.

 

Other features of the proposal include a Thee (Meditation Hall), Chorten, Chimee Lakhang, Information Gallery and Courtyard for the religious folks.

Various other amenities like Cafeteria, Souvenir Shop and Viewing Deck along with adventure sports such as Bungee jumping which make up an integral part of the site.

The project will not only sanctify Lachung and aid to boost the local economy; it will also enhance the socio-cultural life of the people.
